This is the motherlode

Some sweet biblical goodness, right here:

The Skeptic's Annotated Bible. Well organized, with lots of cross-referencing, and critical thought pointers.

And I also found this quiz, which one of my internet friends (Vic!) out there ought to take, just for fun.

I can't keep up with your posting.
I go to the bathroom and there is a new one there.

I got a 12/21. Interesting answers.

Also took the Neocon Quiz. I am an Isolationist.

Take it here:

Your blog has gone from political to religious all of a sudden.

Check this out:

for the origins of the bible. I particularly like the interpretation section at the bottom.

I can barely keep up with reading Andrews posts, let alone browse the linked material.

I did try the quiz, and didn't do so well. And I spent time living in the US like Jason, so I should be an expert at it right? ;)

Anyway, it is a lot harder than i thought, and I had just seen Nicholas Cage in National Treasure on the airplane over here. Why would Nick Cage fill me full of lies?

That's the age-old question that none of us can answer. Oh Nick, why have you forsaken us?

I got 12/21 on that quiz as well.

And when I did the neo-con quiz awhile ago, I was a liberal, I think. Not an isolationist, anyway. That quiz is so biased. Both of them are.

Let me check out this bible origins page.

No but you would know more than Mark about Mexicans.

By the way only gay people use a semicolon and a parenthisis to make a face of a person who is winking.

"only gay people..."

how old are you? what is this, the south? and after all that nonsense you wrote on being tolerant.

Keep that up and I'll ban you from my blog. You, and your children, and your children's children.... for 6 months.

So I checked out that John Moore bible link, and I gotta say, not too impressed. He had clearly done his research for the history of the document, but his conclusions were poorly written (oh the grammar!) and weren't well explained.

Nope, I'm not diggin' John Moore.

I was only joking. I meant it in a girly non-homosexual way.
But you're right I attacked him.
It won't happen again.

You didn't say anything about my dog being banned. Therefore I can still post through her.

I took both tests. The NeoCon test is for Americans only. They can't be accurately answered by me, anyway. The church/state test was biased as well. Thanks for wasting my time guys. Is there any other time-consuming crap you would like me to try?

What are you doing watching a movie with Nicholas Cage in it? I don't care if it's on a plane, there is such a thing as a book. Hell, I'll even take hours of that crappy airplane radio station with my eyes closed, if I didn't have to watch Cage overact in an edited version of a crappy film. Be a little bit smarter next time.

Maybe you should let your dog do your posting for you.

Nicholas cage,
Stop it! Stop sucking! At least, don't suck where my friends or I have to suffer through it. Seriously. You suck on a regular basis.

I see Mark is drunk and bitter, again.

Hey Mark, did you learn something by taking that church/state test? Of course it's biased, but interesting.

As long as you meant it in a girly non-homosexual then that’s okay. Actually that discriminates against people who happen to be gay as well. Everyone is allowed to use emoticons, gay, girly or those that choose a Star Wars book as their first read. EAD :P

Dude, believe me, I gots the books too... just nothing to do with Star Wars. If you are ever on an airplane and you find a used paperback, thank me. It was probably mine. I leave my leftovers everywhere. It beats carrying them around to keep in a collection of “books I’ve read” like Andrew’s... I have seen this collection… among others is The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. Yeah Andrew I am still a little pissed that you called me a redneck.

Here is the deal, it takes about 20-24 hours of flight time to get me to work. The ordeal with layovers and stopovers including standing in the immigration lines of 3 countries, takes roughly 36 hours. A Nick Cage movie is a welcome distraction from my personal hell.

If anything, it makes me happy to be me and not him. And the actress was pretty hot.

since we're acting like we're in junior high, I'll respond to your shot... Your favourite book (Da Vinci Code) would fit nicely right along side The Lion, Witch, and Wardrobe, seeing as both those books were written for children.

I'm sorry Mike. I didn't realize. To have to resort to Nicolas Cage to distract you from the events surrounding your life, must me a Hell beyond my comprehension. Have you tried drinking? Works for me.

Nice dig at the Da Vinci Code.

Funny thing about The Da Vinci Code... I found out it was based on your recommendation The Holy Blood and the Holy Grail. Both of which are hoaxes perpetrated by a French guy who made up the Priory of the Scion (and named himself the grand master). He also made up the family tree in order to make it seem that he was a blood descendant of the Merovingian royal blood line... that of Christ.

How do I know all of this? The Discovery Channel Europe told me so.

I saw that same documentary. It was good, very good. It sounds as if the priory of scion is a hoax. Lots of the history in those two books is accurate, though. Still a fun idea to entertain.
